Buhari appointed Awolowo as secretary of the AFCTA.

President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo has been appointed Secretary of the African Continental Free Trade Association (AfCFTA) National Action Committee for a four-year term starting December 19, 2022. This endorsement has been granted to media and public relations, Femi Adesina.

As Secretary, Mr. Awolowo is expected to provide advice to the AfCFTA National Action Committee on how to effectively bring together relevant stakeholders to achieve Nigeria’s national strategic interests.

After studying law at Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in Ago-Iwoye, Mr. Awolowo served as special assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. From 2007 to 2011, he also served as Minister of Social Development and Transportation in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Abuja.

Mr. Awolowo served as Executive Director/CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council from 2013 to 2022 for two terms.”
