The FCTA limits PoS operators to commercial areas.

The Federal Capital Territory has ordered terminal operator Pointmof Sales to limit operations to commercial areas only.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, Abuja Metropolitan Government Commission Coordinator Umar Shuaibu said the government would not allow PoS operators to illegally occupy important areas except for commercial purposes.

Shuaibu said the operators’ indiscriminate activities had become a security threat and could no longer be tolerated. Abuja’s master plan is systematically built around a neighborhood concept that brings all services closer to the community, he said.

However, there are problems. POS operators are not working in areas where they should be working based on basic scheduling decisions. There are malls, plazas, markets, supermarkets and gas stations and it is an area for commercial activities.

Therefore, PoS operators need access to these property owners in order to use their services, which is in line with international best practice. “From now on, all PoS operators will have to come to the business park and contact the owner of the premises who needs the service.

This will help you bring out your partner’s insecurities. The FCT Secretary ordered all illegal PoS operators to move to their proper location.
