Yolanda Gampp to train bakers in Lagos

Famous Baker and cake designer, who runs the popular YouTube Channel ‘How to cake it’ Yolande Gampp from Toronto, Canada, top Nigerian bakers in Diaspora and bakers in Nigeria will facilitate sessions at Bakers’ seminar in Lagos slated for September 5-7 at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites.

The Convener Dewdrops Uncut Learning and CEO Dew Drops Cakes, Mrs Ezinne Okonkwo, stated this at a briefing.

The theme for the 3rd edition is “Uncut Learning 3: The Craft Revamp” a fun fantasti Bakers Seminar is the 3rd Edition

According to Okonkwo, the word ‘Uncut” implies the seminar ”will cover a lot of activities, networking, learning and relearning. It’s a platform for upcoming and advanced bakers to learn new things.

“It is an impactful beneficial event which we are bringing to bakers in Africa. It’s my baby project which was birthed in 2017 and my way of giving back to society. We saw the need to rebrand and be more innovative which led to this year’s theme. ‘The Craft Revamp.”

This year’s edition, she pointed, out would involve training sessions with experts in the baking Industry.
The seminar will also feature the empowerment of five widowed bakers with N500,000 each. All thanks to some of our sponsors who have identified with us,” she said.

Over the past years, we have seen the face of the Nigerian cake industry improve, people have improved their craft all thanks to some individuals who have sacrificed their time and God-given talent to nurture people.

“This gave rise to the introduction of the very first award which is called ”The Dewdrops Uncut Learning best tutor Award, which cuts across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Voting is on and we have over 60 nominees so far.”

Speaking on how bakers are coping with the surge in inputs and trying to adjust their existing business models in line with the new normal, Onome Wornu of Cakes ‘R’ Us said that it is been challenging for bakers, however, many are re-strategizing to meet consumers demand.
