People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on agreeing to extend the deadline for exchanging old naira banknotes for recycled ones.
In a series of tweets about verified addresses, the former vice president noted that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is finally listening to patriotic voices.
It is commendable that patriotic voices have finally been heard to slightly extend the January 31 deadline for the exchange of old Naira banknotes in order to minimize the devastating impact of CBN on the most vulnerable.
“I propose that @cenbank encourage banks to expand their mobile banking activities so that Nigerians in remote areas and unbanked people can benefit from this expansion.
“I hope that Nigerians will take advantage of this new window to exchange old banknotes for new ones. -AA” His comments follow a request he had previously made to the president for a short extension.
Nigerians should thank @atiku for his patriotic request to the federal government to extend the naira lama88d note submission deadline.
The difference between @atiku and @OfficialABAT has always been very clear.
“@atiku has always been about patriotism and 6th-z sentiment, but BAT has always been about itself. @cenbank has been keeping an eye on the new money circulation for this long period and making sure politicians’ vans delivering new banknotes aren’t hijacked. you should.” Ologbondiyan wrote on Twitter.
