Mafab Communications announced that its 5G network is now operational in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
This became known during the launch of 5G in Lagos on Thursday.
According to the company, it aired in these cities but has yet to be released to the general public.
The company also announced the rollout of 5G using existing infrastructure.
The launch of Mafab 5G in Lagos came 48 hours after its launch in Abuja. At this event, MAFAB Communications Dr. Mushabu Bashir: “48 hours ago, Mcom made history by launching a 5G network in the federal capital, Abuja region.
After our historic start in Abuja, our next stop will be the Center of Excellence in Lagos. As the second carrier in Nigeria to implement 5G, Mcom looks forward to expanding coverage and accelerating broadband service for Nigerians.”
He added: “Our plans are very ambitious and realistic. Mcom plans to open additional sites and cities across the country, starting with an initial rollout in six cities.”
Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Lagos Minister of State for Science and Technology Hakim Fahm, said: In particular, this affects Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole, generating more than $70 billion and creating more than 500,000 jobs.
The prospect of what can be achieved with next generation technology, 5G networks, holds great promise for the future in various areas of our economy, especially in the security sector.”
There are currently fewer than 100 active 5G sites, but to boost coverage in February, the company targeted 100 active 5G sites, sources say.
According to Mafab public relations spokesman Adebayo Onigbanjo, the company plans to focus on voice packages first before ramping up 5G coverage efforts.
“We are in six cities, the rollout is in full swing. It is difficult to deliver a certain number of transceiver stations.
Our plan is to deploy them across the country,” he said.
The feature that has existed since the first day of reconciliation is the existing infrastructure.”
As we continue to roll out our 5G infrastructure, there are things like national roaming that will allow us to provide voice services to our customers from day one.
“If you look at other operators implementing 5G, you will see that they do not have 5G throughout the country, just like we do.
